Researchers have pointed out that their use increases the risk of real-life child abuse.

Revenue’s guidance to customs officers states: “If an item suspected of being a childlike doll and within the definition of ‘child pornography’ is encountered, then the item may be detained as evidence in any criminal proceedings.”
